AUTOPSY OF A GHOST
(67) aka Autopsia de un
Fantasma. Jaw dropping comedy / horror romp stars John
Carradine as Satan, Basil Rathbone (in his last film
appearance) as a ghost and Cameron Mitchell as a mad
scientist! Wonderful stuff!

CAMARA INFRAGANTI (Var.) Mexico is a land of grinding poverty
and deprivation, but that doesn’t stop the nation from
videotaping personal scenes of humiliation and injury for their
own amusement. No holds are barred in this video compilation of
Mexico’s Unfunniest Home Videos. Dogs lift their legs on fancy
wedding gowns, cowboys are ruthlessly gored by rodeo bulls, a
boy accidentally sticks his head up an elephant’s ass, a giraffe
tears off a lady’s blouse, babies puke, piss and shit at the
darnedest times, a Passion Play Christ gets it straight in the
nuts with a mallet, kids smack each other in the head with
baseball bats at Piñata parties, and more, more, more, more,
MORE!!! Most scenes are played twice in a row with funny sound
effects to make sure viewers get the point. So pop a cold Corona
and see what the Third World does for fun!
ORDER
THE CRAZY WORLD OF THE YOUNG (67) aka El Mundo Loco de los
Jovenes. Groovy little Mexican teen comedy about four
guys trying to win the affections of a hot tamale who’s been giving
them the chilly releno treatment. Lots of cool nightclub scenes and
a guy named "The Masked Voice" who has a sexy female entourage, a
robot computer, and more crazy masks than Mil Mascara. With music by
T.J. and Los Dugs Dugs!
ORDER
DR. TARR'S TORTURE DUNGEON (75) aka Dr. Tarr’s Pit of
Horrors; House of Madness; Mansion of Madness; La Mansion de la
Locura. Stylishly trippy and bizarre SOB (South of the Border) Marat/Sade variation from Juan
Moctezuma, director of the amazing Alucarda. Based on Poe's
The System of Dr. Tarr and Professor Feather (and you thought
it was by the Alan Parsons Project), this one's about an insane
asylum overtaken by a lunatic who lets the inmates live out their
wildest fantasies as part of their "therapy." English
language.

EL VIOLADOR INFERNAL (87) This Mexican Satanic slasher picture is so
damned sleazy even WE were amazed! Just as they're about to
throw the switch on the electric chair an evil hombre makes a last
minute deal with the Queen of Hell. Next thing you know ol’ Jose’s a
millioniare, driving a fancy car, living in a mansion and snorting
coke like there's no tomorrow. Naturally he's got to molest and knife
a few naked senoritas every ten minutes or so to keep up his end of
the infernal bargain. In one especially nasty scene El Violador proves that
he's an equal opportunity impaler by first shooting up with his
newfound gay lover, then stabbing him repeatedly and buttfucking him
as he's dying! He finishes up by carving a bloody "666" on the poor
bastard's ass! Shot in a hideously lurid style and with an ending
that pulls out ALL the stops this one's a MUST HAVE for jaded
sinners, bilingual or otherwise.

GHETTO LIBRETTOS! THE WORLD OF
MEXICAN HISTORIETTAS (00) aka The Dark Underworld of Mexico’s
Little Stories. Documentarian Gregory Gransden's concise
half hour history of the world's nastiest, sleaziest comic
books, the Mexican historiettas. Leaving both EC Comics and
Italy's warped fumettis in the dust in the sex, violence and
perversion departments, these cheaply made little books with the
garishly lurid covers pack a meaner punch than a curbside
Tijuana tamale. As an added Pop Culture bonus we're also
throwing in Santo Speaks! a rare interview with the son
of the world
famous masked wrestler, at no extra charge. Spanish with
English subtitles.

HELLISH SPIDERS (66) aka Aranas Infernales.
Lucha libre hero Blue Demon battles evil spiders from

things: Mexican wrestlers and flying saucers! B&W

INTREPIDOS PUNKS (86) aka Fearless Bitches.
Wild, wild, WILD female biker trash from Mexico! Bad ass
trike riding bitches, nudity, gore, and the most outrageously garish
stud’n’spangle outfits and tri-color hairdos we’ve ever seen! You
get biker babes dressed as nuns robbing a bank, a rock and roll ravagement
scene where a woman gets her hand chopped off, death by Russian
roulette, a gas station attendant set on fire, tricycle jousting and
wheelie popping, chain whippings, big hard-as-a-rock silicone titties,
cops being dragged behind cars, shootouts, chase scenes, explosions,
and MORE! This thing’s great!
ORDER
LA GUERRERA VENGADORA (87) Low-budget Mexican marvel
starring a leather clad biker babe who rides a modified Kawasaki ZX6
with rocket launchers, handlebar mounted Uzi, smoke bombs, grenade
cache and laser-guided crossbow holder. Want more? Okay, she’s got a
midget sidekick too. According to SYSTRAN the title
translates as "The Avenging Single-breasted Uniform Jacket"
which just doesn’t sound quite right somehow.
ORDER
LUCHA LIBRE (90) Cool British documentary on the wild world
of Mexican wrestling. All the biggies are covered plus less well
known luminaries like political activist and champion of the poor
Super Barrio and Father Storm, a real live wrasslin’ priest
who even gives communion while wearing his mask and
costume!

MARY, MARY, BLOODY MARY (76) Directed by Juan Lpez Moctezuma
(Dr. Tarr’s Torture Dungeon, Sisters of Satan, To Kill a
Stranger), starring Cristina Ferrare (who later made
headlines as John DeLorean’s coke slut wife) and John Carradine.
English language.

MASTER OF HORROR (60) aka Masterworks of Terror;
Obras Maestras del Terror. UNCUT Spanish language print
of this wonderfully atmospheric horror anthology based on the
works of Edgar Allen Poe and starring Narciso Ibaez Menta, the Boris
Karloff of Argentinian cinema. This complete version includes the
"Tell-Tale Heart" segment which was dropped by American distributor
Jack Harris, apparently out of fear that Menta’s portrayal of the
miser in the story as a greedy, hook-nosed Jew might somehow be
perceived as anti-Semitic.

MUERTE INFERNAL (87) This
slice of Mexican depravity has it goin’ on. Lorenzo is a fey
young puppeteer who lives in a doll-strewn mansion with his sexy
mom, with whom he commits light incest. Denounced as a "maricon"
by the local villagers, Lorenzo is committed to a sanitarium and
things REALLY take a turn for the worse! A misshapen fairy tale
dwarf who bears a striking similarity to Liza Minelli suddenly
appears out of nowhere and starts bumping people off! Is the
dwarf a manifestation of Lorenzo’s pent-up rage? Lots of people
wind up getting iced anyway. Equal parts artful and crude, this
feature is in the SPANISH LANGUAGE WITHOUT ENGLISH SUBTITLES.
People who are fluent in en Espanol that your humble reviewer
shared this film with found it even more bizarre and
incomprehensible than he did!
ORDER
NOCHE DE MUERTE (75) aka Night of Death. Masked
Mexican wrestling super-hero Blue Demon must fight for his life
and his honor when a gang of baddies start disguising themselves
as him while they pull hold ups and terrorize the locals. Lots
of fun wrasslin' and stuff but the big draw for these movies
here at Shocking Videos HQ are the incredibly tacky sets! Along
with all the usual cheesy decor (somebody find us that gold
spiky ball lamp, quick!) this one's got scenes of Blue Demon
running around hotel rooms decked out with this incredible
purple shag carpeting that look like they were filmed at
Wisconsin's infamous
Gobbler Motel and Supper Club! Spanish language with no
subtitles.
ORDERSANTA SANGRE (89) aka Holy Blood. Sex, lust, adultery,
underaged tattooing, coke snorting mongoloids, gratuitous symbolism,
dismemberment, religious fanaticism, a big dead elephant, The
Invisible Man, drunken Mexicans, Santo's sister, Mom, murder,
hallucinations, clowns, blood, a really big snake, and it all makes
sense! Jodorowsky's wildest, most coherent work to date and it's
still a solid eleven on the Weirdo Meter! Required viewing.
Letterboxed English language print.
ORDER
TO KILL A STRANGER (85) aka Matar a un Extrao;
Secuestrada; Le Tueur. Obscure thriller from Juan Moctezuma,
director of Sisters of Satan and Dr. Tarr’s Torture
Dungeon. Angelica Maria is on her way to meet her TV journalist
husband (Dean Stockwell) who is covering a sensitive story in a
Latin American dictatorship. Her car breaks down in a rainstorm and
she winds up at the home of national war hero Donald Pleasence, who
proceeds to attempt to molest and murder her. They struggle, Pleasence
is killed (some war hero) and in a panic she hides the body. All is
going well until local police detective Aldo Ray starts putting the
pieces together. Pleasence has a ball delivering lines like "Why
don’t you come to my arms and give me pleasure, you whore" Stockwell
seems even more detached than normal (at one point he
literally phones in his performance) and there’s a very
special guest appearance by Mad magazine cartoonist Sergio
Aragones playing a fascist general! English language.
